Over the weekend, my friends and neighbors Steven and Lisa invited me to their 7th (8th?) annual Schnitzelfest. Of course there was lots of great schnitzel to be eaten, as well as a plethora of other Austro-Hungarian inspired dishes.
While Lisa and Steven prepared the delicious meal pictured above, it was up to the guests to bring the libations. The parameters? A wine (most preferably a high acid riesling!) to pair with the crispy fried meats.
As you can surmise from the photo above, lots of great German riesling was provided and consumed. Fortunately, we only encountered one corked bottle. A 1999 Gaisberg Riesling from Austria. Oh well, it happens to the best of them.
17 or 18 different bottles (including a Weissburgunder as well as a Rieslaner, a cross between riesling and sylvaner, from Müller-Catoir) kept things lively and interesting..

Thank you Steven and Lisa for hosting a wonderful Schnitzelfest 2010!
Next up: A tasting of Anoro..
